Engagement and Reporting
The importance of engaging with stakeholders cannot be overstated; there are many examples of organisations failing to tell their ESG story effectively and falling afoul of investors and other stakeholders. We support our clients in their engagement efforts, from developing an investor engagement strategy; to formulating how to approach stakeholders such as proxy advisors, ESG research and ratings providers, and ESG activists; to drafting and reviewing ESG presentations and Q&As. We also advise clients in responding to investor surveys and queries, and support data validation for ESG research firms.
As part of the engagement process, we also support our clients in their periodic ESG reporting. The year-end reporting cycle provides an opportunity to communicate the organisation’s overall approach to material ESG topics to investors and other stakeholders, including reporting on strategy, risk management, performance against relevant metrics, and progress against targets.
We help our clients make sense of the alphabet soup of competing and overlapping reporting standards to report on the issues that matter most to the organisation, its investors, and other key stakeholders. This may include prioritising material topics in the context of limited management resources, drafting and reviewing ESG/sustainability reports, designing ESG data books, and validating/verifying ESG content for public disclosures. We support clients who wish to disclose in accordance with international reporting standards (e.g., TCFD, GRI, SASB, CDP, SDGs, ISSB, etc.).
We draft and review Modern Slavery Statements, from a perspective of not just ensuring black letter compliance, but also meeting the disclosure expectations of investors and other key stakeholders.
